In over 38 years of doing business as a "Home Improvement Professional" I have made a lot of mistakes and made my customers mad or stressed. Unfortunately, it takes growing and maturing to "own who you are" and make the necessary changes to be a better person and professional. I have listened to hundreds or even thousands of homeowners through the years discuss the service they received on many different kinds of projects. From small repairs, major additions, or whole house projects, the number one compliant has always been "poor communication".If all companies would return phone calls or make a few more phone calls, there would be less stress on both sides. Another big complaint is, "not showing up on time ", or "not prepared when they do show up". Here is a place where a phone call really can help. When a company is on the way, give the homeowner a call, let them know, even if you have an appointment. Homeowners also have a responsibility in this too. Please answer your phone if you are expecting someone, answering machines just don't cut it.

Probably, the most important thing any service company can do is "be neat and clean". Take care of the property. When you leave, it should be cleaner than it was when you got there.
